Creating a personalized canvas just got easier with EasyCanvasPrints.com. It's a great way to decorate your room or gift to a friend.

If you’re like most girls that love home decor, you’ll probably find yourself obsessing over interior design photos on Pinterest or looking for cute decorations for your own room and house. I myself, love finding new ways to spruce up rooms and I find that one of the most easiest ways to decorate a place is with photos.

I’m really big on photos and framing pictures, so it wasn’t a surprise when I fell in love with the idea of hanging canvases around my house either. I’ve actually never thought about having a canvas until I made my own personal one of my cute dog at EasyCanvasPrints.com.

EasyCanvasPrints.com allows you to take any personal photo you have and design a canvas of your own to hang in your house. It’s super easy to use and there are many different sizes to choose from. Since I decided to make a canvas of my dog, I went with a smaller sized canvas, but you can customize your canvas up to 40″ x 40″ dimensions. Once you’ve settled on which size you want, all you have to do is upload your photo and decide whether or not you want any touch-up features and you’re done. Easy, isn’t it?

What I really love about having a canvas over a photo frame, is that it really pops out and looks great against on the wall or even if you set it on a dresser or side table. And even if you already have enough decor in your house right now, a canvas will always be a great gift to give to friends or family, and it would definitely be a nice surprise for your mother for the upcoming Mother’s Day Holiday.

One last thing I want to note is an additional discount you can receive from EasyCanvasPrints.com, because who doesn’t like a nice deal? You can get 50% off and free shipping on your next order if you like Easy Canvas Prints Facebook Page. They also offer discounts every now and then, so check back at their website if you’re looking for any discounts.

So if you’re ever in need of a easy and fun decorating idea, make sure to try Easy Canvas Prints!

Shabby Apple

As many of you know, Shabby Apple is a distinguished brand that offers many styles of women’s dresses. They have many collections and also offer swim wear, fitness clothes and they even have a kids collection.

I do a considerable amount of online shopping and the one thing I look for when I’m online is uniqueness. Why waste time online if I could buy an ordinary dress at the mall, right? And Shabby Apple definitely has a lot of unique styles that I wouldn’t see at another ordinary store.

And lucky me – I had the opportunity to review one of their dresses! I tried their Maple Dress and it has many great details and I love the collar. There are a few drawbacks such as the wrinkling and the dress length is a little longer than I would have hoped for. But all in all, this really is a quality dress.

Me in the Maple Dress

Check out my style blog for more photos of me in the Maple Dress.

I do recommend taking a closer look at their sizing chart and making sure that you know your measurements. I’m usually an XS, but I decided to go with an XXS and this dress fit like a glove.

One other thing I like about Shabby Apple is that they display customer reviews next to each dress, which can be very helpful. Some people don’t take reviews as seriously, but I think it’s good to know what other people think about the dress in terms of quality and sizing.

And lastly, all my readers can receive a 10% off coupon by using the coupon code “fashionaddict10off” at checkout. You can also receive other discounts and promotions in the future by liking their Facebook page, so like away!

So if you look under my bed, you’ll find piles and piles of magazines that I can no longer fit in my bookshelves which are now crowded with college textbooks and binders.

Every time my subscriptions come in the mail, I tell myself that I need to clean up or get rid of my old magazines – but I just can’t. Besides my adorable teddy bears and childhood photos, magazines are the only things that I won’t let go of – I’ve never had a hard time throwing out old clothes that I know I’ll never wear again or battered shoes that just can’t be repaired. And although I barely have the time to sit and read through all of the old issues, there’s just something so special about these glossy magazines that make me want to hold on to them forever.

From reading about the latest trends and gazing over street style photos, I gain so much inspiration to try out new things or question the norm society places out for us. Throwing away my magazines is like asking a professor to throw away their research journals they refer to or telling a car fanatic to get rid of car manuals that tell them everything about their beloved automobiles. Magazines are like my fashion bible.

I know it’s sort of a waste of space and there’s got to be a better solution than keeping large stacks in my house (perhaps go digital?), but for now I’ll keep on treasuring them until I find a reason to toss them out – that’s if I ever do. What are some things you have trouble throwing away?

We often talk about how we have those buyer’s remorse moments where we regret a purchase or two – whether it was the choice of buying those killer heels you thought you could wear to classes, but never did or when you had that sudden impulse to splurge on the current “It” bag when you knew you should have used that money for rent instead. It really can be the worst feeling sometimes.

I’ve had my fair share of buyer’s remorse, but recently I’m getting the feeling that I experience the opposite more these days. If there’s anything that can match buyer’s remorse, it’s got to be saver’s remorse – that feeling when you don’t take the opportunity to buy that one thing your were craving.

Just like any frugal college student, I have to watch what I spend and sometimes I take it too far. I’ll easily fall into a habit of hesitating on whether I should really buy something, especially when it comes to clothes. So by the next time I visit the store, I’m left disappointed to find that the item is sold out or no longer available. Ever had that happen to you and felt completely heartbroken? Um, yes.

Once I saw this amazing jacket at Anthropologie that I fell in love with right after I tried it on. But I didn’t think to rush and buy it and, of course, it sold out by the time I came to my senses. I even called their hot line and asked if there were any in stock at any of their other stores or online, but unsurprisingly there were no more. This also happened to me recently while I was shopping in Japan even though I told myself long ago that I wouldn’t make the same saver’s remorse mistake again.

Over time I get over it and I always try to remind myself that something will come out that I will love just as much. I just hate that sad feeling I get whenever this happens, but in the end I figure it’s better than buyer’s remorse (well, most of the time). ;) Which one do you go through more often, buyer’s or saver’s remorse?

A typical uniform a girl
would wear to school in Japan.

Junior high may be the most brutal time to go to school for any teenager. Teen angst starts to kick in, popularity wars begin and the sudden urge to always fit in becomes the priority for many incoming students. So dressing for school wasn’t exactly the easiest thing to do at times.

I remember many of my friends trying their hardest to get a hold of the “hottest” Abercrombie shirts or arguing with their mothers about being able to shave and wear makeup “because everyone else is.” I won’t deny – we were all too young to understand that trying to be like everyone else was just silly. And like the other kids at school, I would continuously worry about what I was going to wear the next day.

This all changed for me when I moved to Japan after finishing my first two years of junior high. All the sudden everything was different and there was so much adjusting to do. I enrolled in a Japanese middle school and learned that I would be wearing a uniform to school everyday. At first, I wasn’t too fond of wearing the same outfit day after day, but it gradually grew on me as I became more accustomed to my new life in what felt like a foreign country to me.

My school uniform consisted of a plaid skirt, white shirt and a bow and in the winter we’d also wear cardigans and blazers (sound a lot like Gossip Girl?). There were no more endless searches in the closet to find the perfect outfit; it was already chosen for me. No more pressure of what everyone else would think, since we were all essentially dressed the same.

But that’s not to say that all competition ceased to exist. Instead of trying to find a way to be similar to one another, we’d all struggle to do something to make us stand out. Whether it was by shortening our skirts or wearing cute hair accessories, we’d do anything to be different to impress one another. So when colored cardigans became all the rage, every girl had her own bright color (although they were immediately banned by the school due to them causing “disruptions in class” and followed by an unsuccessful petition which the teachers shot down in a heartbeat).

So even though there were limitations, I enjoyed having a uniform to wear everyday and it certainly took away a lot of unneeded stress for a girl that age. I think at times it even sparked more creativity and uniqueness because we all got bored of looking exactly the same.

I’ve always been a big fan of mini dresses and skirts and to be honest, I’ve never thought about wearing a maxi dress until recently. Being the short girl that I am (I’m roughly 5’2″), I’ve always had the impression that maxi dresses would never look good on me because of my height. Shopping for the right maxi dress can become a real challenge, especially since I live in America, and even when I search the petite section I usually find dresses that are still way too long for me.

But now that I think about it, I don’t think short girls should be intimidated by maxi dresses or long skirts because of their size. Although I think mini dresses look great, I really believe that short girls can pull off a maxi dress any day. If we can wear long gowns at proms and formal parties, why not a casual maxi dress in the nice summer season?

I know that many short girls think that maxis drown us in fabric or make us look even shorter, but I think you can look great if you pick the right shape and fit. Here’s a few tips of mine that I always think about when shopping for maxis:

1. Fitting is key. A lot of maxis are very voluminous and flowy, but if you’re on the shorter side, I recommend looking out for more slim and form fitting ones. If you do happen to have a rather loose fitting maxi, try cinching it around your waist with a belt to accentuate your frame.

2. Solid colors and fine patterns work better. Although big bold patterns and a ray of color can be fun, sometimes it can be a bit too much or a little unflattering for the body.

3. Consider getting it hemmed. We often get stumped on the length of the dress, but depending on the style, many maxis can be shortened to fit your height by hemming them without ruining the design. If you want to hem the dress, stay away from those that have ruffles or frills at the bottom because those tend to be more difficult to trim. And if hemming is not a possibility, you can always wear heels instead of flats to get rid of some of the extra length.

4. Accessorize around the maxi dress and keep it simple. The maxi dress is going to be your focal point, so you don’t have to go all out an wear big statement jewelry or accessorize too much.

These are a couple of things I check for when I look at maxi dresses. Are maxis part of your wardrobe and what are your styling tips?

Ever disagree with your friend's or family's style?

Growing up and sharing clothes with my older sister wasn’t exactly ideal since we’re six years apart. (Although that never really stopped me from borrowing her jeans even though they definitely did not fit me properly.) But we gradually started sharing each others clothes when I finally grew up to be the same size. And whenever she’s in town or we find time to get together, we love to shop just like all sisters do.

But the moment we reach the mall and start visiting stores, I immediately realize that we have such different tastes. I always playfully tease her hippie style and joke that she’s always looking for the “weird” clothes that Ph.D students like to wear. Sometimes I can’t understand why she gets excited over certain items at a store and I definitely can’t fathom the whole socks with sandals trend she’s sporting these days, but that’s another story.

Our styles are just so different – I prefer dressing more preppy and form fitting whereas my sister goes for the more relaxed feel. So while I’m easily attracted to A-line pleated skirts, she’s drawn to flowy sundresses and casual t-shirts. I sometimes wonder how we ended up having such opposite tastes, especially since we grew up together for the longest time. You’d think that my sister’s style would rub off on me, but not so much!

As we window shop for shoes I’m usually charmed by high heels and embellished flats while she gazes over sandals or more conservative ballet flats. She likes prints and I prefer solid colored; I’m more into tights whereas you’ll find her wearing leggings instead; she wears makeup and I can’t even get myself to brush my lashes with mascara; and the list can go on.

However, there are still many things we both agree on. We at least enjoy going to the same stores together and often love the same item but just wear it in different ways. The two of us buy the same dress shirts for business occasions and we both think that headbands are the ultimate hair accessory.

I think our styles really represent our personality and that’s what’s so great about it. And it’s not like I think mine is better than hers or that we totally don’t get each other. We’re usually brutally honest with one another when we ask if our outfit looks okay or at least my sister will get the gist of my expression when I think she has it all wrong (and vice versa).

So what’s it like with your sister and friends? Do you share similar tastes or is everyone different just like me and my sister?

The beautiful Kendall Jenner modeling for Sherri Hill prom dresses.

There’s something so irresistible about the Kardashian clan that causes me to join the thousands that tune into Keeping Up with the Kardashians every Sunday. Although I was unable to watch the season 6 premiere, I fully intend on being a couch potato and watch every episode when I find the time.

I have to admit, when I first heard about Kim Kardashian and her scandal I didn’t have that great of an impression and didn’t pay any attention until I finally saw a rerun of one of the earlier episodes of their reality show. I’ve been shamelessly obsessed with the show and family ever since. I love the energy that the girls have and am envious of their strong family relationship.

Kourtney, Kim and Khloe cease to amaze me with their dedication to their work and they really don’t get enough credit for it. A lot of people don’t realize that working in the entertainment industry is just as hard or harder than working a “normal” job in an office. Sure, it looks easy and fun – but that’s because they’re really good at what they do, just like any professional in any given industry. But, I’m not saying “normal” jobs are easy – just that the entertainment industry is more than just glamour.

I love those three girls to death and I have another post that explains why, but recently I have been obsessed with Kendall, the Kardashians step-sister, and her upcoming modeling career. She has grown into this beautiful young girl and I can just see her becoming a huge star in the modeling industry. Kendall’s sister, Kylie, is also a vibrant young girl with her quirky attitude that’s contagious, but I don’t see high fashion model from her – more of the charismatic actress which is just as commendable.

I really look forward to seeing how Kendall grows and develops her career. She has a lot going for her and I believe she’s headed in the right track with the of support from a loving family. I have high hopes for her and I know she won’t let us down.
