Although the thought of enjoying a long summer vacation at the beach or just chilling out at home sounds like fun, I actually opted to take summer classes this year. The truth is, I would find being in school and have a busy life doing homework and stressing (hopefully not a lot) on exams more fulfilling than doing nothing over the 3 months of summer.

As I start my junior year in college, I find it more interesting than ever. I finally get to study the subjects that I came to college for in greater detail and going to school is actually something I look forward to everyday.

With all that said, I know most of you have noticed a long absence of my writing on this blog. I’ve taken a break from blogging to concentrate more on my studies, but that doesn’t mean that I am no longer interested in fashion or clothes. In fact, I think my love for the industry is constantly growing, but I just don’t take the time to write about it. I intend to keep this blog up and eventually come back to writing like I used to, but I’m having so much fun in college right now that I think I’m going to have to let fashion wait for a bit.

I love the spring weather and can't wait for it to come!

And I’m totally happy about it. But even if the calendar says that spring officially starts in March or whether the groundhog saw its shadow or not, I still feel like the winter breeze is still here to stay. I live in the southern region in the states, so it surprised me when it snowed for the past three days.

Just as I was ready to rearrange my wardrobe and plan for my spring outfits, I found it funny that I felt like I needed an extra winter coat to help me survive the last few weeks of the cold. So I rushed to the nearby shopping mall that has the best selections in the small city that I live in, just to find that, the stores too, have realized that spring is just around the corner. The kind lady at Banana Republic remorsefully told me that their winter coats were all sold out and most likely most stores would be like that as well.

Luckily we live in a day in age where online shopping can be one of the most convenient places to do some last minute shopping or getting merchandise that would otherwise make you travel miles to get if it wasn’t for the internet.

Although I’m not the biggest fan of online shopping, I do find it fun because of all the choices you have compared to the limited selections you see in the stores. As most of us know, sizes vary from brand to brand, so I’m always a bit skeptical when buying online because of sizing issues and I’m also a picky buyer when it comes to material and fabric.

So it’s always nice when online stores like ModCloth even give you details as to the measurements of the waist, bust, and hip. I also enjoy shopping online when I can read valid comments about the certain product from other customers to get a feel of what I’m buying before hand.

As much as I dislike the stores for changing their items so quickly, I still understand, and am thankful for online shopping. In the meantime, I’ll be spending my lovely, but cold days, inside while

It’s funny how I practically knew nothing about the Kardashian family until the beginning of last year. I ended up falling in love with them and their show when I was flipping through and landed on the E! channel that year. Now I’ve seen every episode of their show more than once and have become a huge fan of the sisters.

Ever since I started watching the show (Keeping Up With the Kardashians), I could not possibly get over Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe. They’re ridiculously beautiful, stylish, and incredibly bright business women. Although the media might perceive the Kardashians as spoiled brats, I honestly think that they have worked really hard to get where they are now.

I personally love Kourtney’s style. I find myself spending hours and hours browsing the internet and looking at my favorite outfits worn by Kourtney. She is the most adorable thing and I so wish I could have her wardrobe.

Khloe’s hilarious. Whenever I watch the show, she’s the one that makes me smile and laugh the most. Although she’s tough and sometimes judgmental, I love that she makes things better in hard situations and brings the family together.

And I absolutely admire Kim’s work ethic. I know she spends so much time doing photo shoots, building her shoe company, creating her perfume, and going to all those appearances. She does so much and so do her sisters, and they don’t ever get the credit they deserve. They are truly superstars and should be applauded.

I’m obviously a big fan and I can’t wait till the day when I visit both of their DASH stores and hopefully get to meet them one day!

I'm always going to be in love with kids clothes. Image courtesy of Burberry

I’ve always had this odd infatuation with little baby and kids clothes. It always occurred to me that kids have the cutest clothes in the world and I can’t help but giggle and smile whenever I pass by the kids section and I see a tiny pair of shoes. It’s so funny how a plaid dress for a grown up would look ridiculous if the design was wrong, but it’s the most adorable thing when it’s the appropriate size for a little girl.

So the day I heard a rumor that a good friend of mine was pregnant, I got so excited and couldn’t wait for the baby shower. The thought of going to the department store and buying all the cutest outfits for her and her baby raced through my head and I was so happy. But all just to find out that she really wasn’t pregnant and it was all a joke.

But that won’t stop me from loving kids clothes. I know that when I’m a parent I will, unfortunately, spoil my kids with the best clothes and make sure they are the best dressed. I’m going to end up playing dress up with my little children and I know it’s bad, but it’ll make me feel like a little girl again too and I can give my children everything that I wanted.

After our last midterm of the semester, my friends and I sighed and lounged outside of our classroom. Relieved that everything was over with and that we hopefully did well, we talked about the usual girl stuff, what’s going on during the weekend and the cute boys.

As we laughed through our conversations, we happened to notice one of our previous economics professor walking past us in the hallway. “There’s your favorite professor in the world,” my friend says somewhat sarcastically. As I turn to see, I reply, “Oh, yeah he’s pretty cool.” But I couldn’t help giggle when I saw his outfit and I tell my friend:

Me: For a business professor, isn’t it weird that he dresses like that?
Friend: Seriously. It’s like he’s kept his wardrobe from the 80′s and never changed it. Now that’s what you call an economic investment.
Me: Haha, but you know I have seen him in a suit before. Just once.
Friend: Really?!

Whenever I think of professors I imagine someone wearing a 3 piece suit, looking really prim and proper as they take their wise self to class. But no. That’s really not that case at my university and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not that case at yours.

I love most of my professors, they’re wonderful people, and as much respect that I have for them, I can’t help but get distracted by their fashion. My old English professor literally wore bright pink pants to class and occasionally a pink pastel dress that defined every part of her body that it shouldn’t. Another professor accidentally wore her skirt backwards, and when approached by someone about it simply fixed it in front of them without a sign of embarrassment.

And I love this one science professor that enjoys wearing two glasses, one on top of the other, “because it helps him see better.” Haha, right… But my favorite is the one who wears Hawaiian shirts every chance he can.

I know, I’m bad, but the occasional joke about professor fashion is fun. There’s one course that I think many of my professors either failed to take or plainly just failed and that’s Fashion 101.

Like all girls with an unbearable love for shoes, my heart melts every time I walk into a store filled with shoes waiting to be worn. Although I’m a pretty picky shopper, I enjoy every minute of walking through the aisles trying to find the perfect pair.

While I was shopping in Japan one day, I found myself on a floor with shelves of shoes on every end. Although I wasn’t intending on buying anything, I whispered to my brother who came along, “I’m going to see if there’s anything I like.” and went off in high spirits. I was determined to find me a pair that was just what I’ve been wanting all along.

30 minutes later, I went back to my brother and told him that we could go since I couldn’t find anything. He exclaimed, “You couldn’t find anything in a department store like this?!” Sighing I replied, “Well, I found one, but they didn’t have it in my size.” He chuckled and shook his head as he followed me out of the store.

Sizes always become a problem when it comes to shoe shopping. It’s either way too big or too small and occasionally, occasionally they fit perfectly. My feet aren’t difficult to accommodate because I have enormously huge feet, but because mine are just naturally wider around my toes. So it’s always heartbreaking when I see a pair of the cutest flats and find out that I can’t fit in them.

This is why I envy girls with small feet because it seems like they always have shoes in stock and sometimes they can even grab a few bargains since inventories are filled with small sizes. My friend also pointed out that smaller shoes just look better in general – “Big shoe sizes always end up looking hideos,” she claimed. “Seriously, who would want to wear this?! And then when you go to the smaller sizes everything’s so cute.”

I love this phrase, especially since I desperately rely on it when I’m attempting (but often fail) to act as if I have writer’s block with my English professors or when I’m purposely running behind on interviews for my articles due the next day for the school newspaper.

But this time around it has nothing to do with my college career or my professional skills at procrastination. Instead it’s about my actual appearance. While many might think of hair extensions, I’m actually implying eyelash extensions.

One thing many Asian girls can relate to is that we either have ridiculously thin and or short eyelashes. I know I do and mine in fact slant down instead of curling up. Eyelash curlers? Been there, done that – all just to pinch the skin around my eye and be a grouch the rest of the day.

Mascara never seems to work for me either. I’m not sure whether it’s my absolute clumsiness or the fact that lashes really can’t extend twice as much like the commercials say. Maybe it’s both, but I’ve almost come to the point where I give up.

So for a long time, I thought glamorous eyelashes are just something I won’t be able to attain. Ever. However, an article written by Jan Masters, a wonderful fashion/beauty writer for Vogue Nippon, raised my hopes. She mentioned her recent love with her new long lashes which she got extended at a beauty salon.

For those who aren’t familiar with extensions, they’re basically fake lashes that licensed professionals glue onto your real lashes so they fall out at the same time your real ones do. Unlike the do-it-yourself extensions, these actually look real and make your lashes feel thicker, longer and naturally fuller.

I didn’t think much of these lashes at the time, especially since I wasn’t willing to afford something that sounded so very pricey for a teenager. But it got me thinking that by enhancing my lashes for a few hundred dollars would be worth so much more than spending mornings vigorously trying to apply mascara (which always seem to clump together anyway) and all the frustration I get on why my adamant lashes won’t curl.

So what do you think? Have you ever gotten extensions? I’m still looking for other ways to make my eyelashes somewhat more stylish, so if you have any suggestions, please tell me. It always helps to have others advice.

I regret not being able to select more than one winner, so it was extremely difficult, but here goes.

The winner of this giveaway is Michelle! I enjoyed her response and really felt that she understands the importance of time:

I am going to be a senior in college majoring in Professional Communications, so time is very important to me. Along with being a full time student, I work in retail and as a basketball referee. On top of it all a girl’s got to find time to spend with her friends and family! Time is precious and it is crucial that make time for all of the important people in my life while balancing school and work!

Congratulations Michelle, and I will be sending you an email soon!

I loved loved loved all the responses and again, I wish I could give everyone a watch, but I just can’t. I appreciate everyone’s participation and hopefully I’ll see you again at another Fashion Addict giveaway!

One thing I have found very important after all these years of living and trying to live my life its fullest is the importance of time. Time flies by all the time, whether we know it or not, and every now and then I know it’s hard to keep track, but it would be a whole lot easier with a brand new watch, would it not?

So Fashion Addict has teamed up with OrientalWatchSite.com and is giving away to one lucky winner a brand new Orient watch retailing at $80!

Orient Automatic Men's Watch

I know, I know, (to all the ladies) you’re probably thinking, “Why in the world would I want to wear a men’s watch?”As much as I can agree with your thought process there, I can’t help but play around and try on my own father’s watches. Men’s watches such as the CFPAA002D have that certain boldness and when I see women wearing them, it just makes them look so much more edgy and trendy. Like my favorite Kim Kardashian:

Kim Kardashian's rocking a men's watch, why don't you?

Still not convinced enough to wear it yourself? No problem, it’s always nice to surprise your boyfriend with a unexpected gift, or even show your family how much you enjoy their company by giving them a sweet new watch. And for all you men reading my blog, (don’t deny – I know you read it), this is definitey a thing to participate in. So enter the contest! I know you’ll have fun!

All you have to do is:

1. Explain in the comments section why you would wear a men’s watch OR Why time is important to you.

I am so excited about starting a fresh new academic year at college and can’t wait to see what opportunities are waiting for me this year. After finishing one year of college, I’ve learned from my many mistakes and for those of you that are soon to be freshmen, I have lots to tell!

When wondering what to wear:

Always go with flats or sneakers, especially if you’re going to be walking on campus ALL the time. I thought I could handle heels one time – BIG MISTAKE.

Try to figure out the temperature setting in your classrooms. The newer buildings at my school tend to be really cold so I like to bring along a comfy fleece jacket. Whereas the ancient buildings from the stone ages are always hot (so I guess there’s not much you can do there).

You’ll never go wrong with sunglasses and sunscreen is a must in the summer heat.

And use a backpack! Don’t lie to yourself thinking that you won’t need one. If you do you’ll end up forgetting tor bring your books to class which leads to not studying and then you’ll wonder why you failed that class at the end of the semester. Ok that’s being too dramatic, but you get the point. =)

When dealing with professors:

Visit them during their office hours! They love it and it’ll show that you’re actually trying.

Try not fall asleep during your classes – staring off into space won’t get you into as much trouble…

And don’t show up late to classes, professors are easily offended.

When balancing your academic and social life:

Just hit the books and try to study. There’s never a loss when you learn something, even if it’s not on the test.

Get rest! Don’t push yourself to attend the biggest sorority party of the semester, when you know you have an 8:00 class the next day.

It’s okay to chill out during the daytime too. Lunchtime naps often help me revive my energy and helps me through the long days.

But don’t forget to be with your friends since they understand what you’re going through the best, whether it be good or bad.

There’s definitely lots more in order to survive college, but these are some that I wish I knew before I started and hopefully you got a few things out of this. And lastly, have fun! We’re in college!!!
